Abstract: The continental Jurassic system in Northwest China can be classed into 10 stratigraphic districts and 7 subdistricts based on a systematic study of large quantity of continental Jurassic geologic sections in Northwest China, such as that paleotectonic frameworks, basement characters, tectonic deformation, magmatic activity, sedimentary formation, paleao-biota attributes, stratigraphic development and contact relations. In terms of the stratigrsphic province, the paper deats with Jurassic lithofacies and Plaeogeography, and the distributive regularity of sedimentary minerals such as petroleum and coal resources is discussed as well.
